Absently, Ill jabbed his muzzle into his shoulder, rubbing the pink skin still further raw. That only made it sting. But in a way, it was a sadomasochistic part of Ill that quite enjoyed the sensation. It sent a tingle up his spine. His attention was certainly diverted by the creature he found before him.
If he was death walking, this was his shadow. Ill’s eyes nearly split in the agony of his insanity’s crushing dominion of his mind. This creature – Datura, in her mind, simply an ‘other’ in his – was painfully beautiful in Ill’s mind. He could practically see the dust that had settled on her hide in the stillness of her days. The tone that hushed itself from her mouth even more so added to Ill’s delight.
The stocky frame halted a few feet from her, leaving her the room to be a separate entity from anything Ill might say and do around her. But do not be so sure he doesn’t want to mingle closer, inspect the very skeleton of her being, or some other awkwardly normal thing Ill might do. Her frame, he could see, was tired of her weight, had diminished some time ago.
My my, Ill…it would appear you have found an other you particularly find alluring. I’m not sure what that means en lieu of fate. And your purpose, oh master of death.
His right eye rolled and skittered madly, hinting at the only movement Ill might make for a few minutes. His left eye was instead locked, black on black, to hers. ‘Ill.’ I might drop my jaw if I hadn’t heard him give him name before, but certainly not so readily.
Interesting.
‘You are not what I expected.’ His eyes crinkled with mirth. ‘But I suppose it is not a disappointment – one I’m sure you didn’t care if you were projecting.’
