Coach Blandford and his wife lived diagonally across Wake Forest Rd. in Pinehurst from my parents. During the warm months, they typically trekked around a one-mile circuit without much vehicular traffic, and always liked to exchange conversation. They volunteered to house-sit during my father's funeral in 1996. The coach said he remembered me from Harry Hunt during the mid-fifties, and if he did his memory was phenomenal; he was certainly gracious, as was his wife.
