What’s especially helpful about Ms. Tennille’s literacy observation is that she’s white and her observation’s primarily about what white folk can do. Plus, it satisfies the truism about thinking globally while acting locally. Finally, it can address white students as well as black students. Talk about efficiency. Building with Habitat for Humanity would do the same outdoors. Little steps.
