The armory referenced in my previous post, written in the early morning hours after coming home from working a night-shift, was located NOT on Effingham (DUH!) at all, but across the street from The Circle restaurant and down a little ways toward the old Planter's Peanut Plant. It was in the vicinity of where Otis (above) lived, on Wool St. (or Ave.) as memory serves after so many years.
Effingham, of course, is much further downtown, and WHY I wrote THAT as the name of the street the armory was on is a mystery to me. Age, fatigue, cross-referencing disparate thoughts simultaneously---who knows?
Anyways, lest anyone be confused otherwise, I thought it best to make the acknowledgement of error. Nor did I want to run the risk that the error itself might have left in anyone's mind the impression that nothing else in my previous post was accurate; it was otherwise entirely accurate.
Growing old(er); Harruummmpppphhhhhhh!
