RICHMOND-Mary Elizabeth Johnson CONNER, 84, of Lakewood Manor, Richmond, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. She was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin Robert Johnson and Nannie Lewis Johnson; brothers, Clifton, Robert, Armon, J.B. and Albert; sister, Katherine. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Walter L. Conner Sr. She was a wonderful mother to her son, Walter L. "Buddy" Conner Jr. and wife, Debbie, and her daughter, Linda Davis and husband, Billy, all of Richmond; brother, Burrell Ray Johnson and wife, Frances, of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Barry Davis, Susan Collins, William J. Conner, Matthew A. Conner, and Parker C. Conner; and three great-grandchildren.
Mary was a member of Highland Baptist Church, Western Branch Baptist Church of Portsmouth, and First Baptist Church of Richmond.
Mary was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth and Keys Business College in Norfolk. She was a member of Craddock Chapter O.E.S.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Richmond. Burial 3 p.m. Saturday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Community Mission Fund.
