CHESAPEAKE - Judy Sledge, 52, of the 1100 block of Shoal Creek Trail, departed this life April 18, 2008, at her residence. Judy was the daughter of William A. Sledge Jr. and the late Ivie M. Sledge. Judy was born Jan. 3, 1956, in Portsmouth.
She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1973 and furthered her education at Norfolk State University.
Her last employment was at Canon ITS as an administrative support specialist. Judy was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory her father, William A. Sledge Jr.; one sister, Gwendolyn S. Jones (Craig); three brothers, William V. Sledge III (Jackie) of Olympia, Wash., Thomas A. Sledge (Valerye) of Villa Rica, Ga., Stephen A. Sledge (Sylvia) of Portsmouth; aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents, William S. Sledge Sr., Ethel Sledge and Lear F. Harris.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing in Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The family will assemble at 2616 Ash St., Portsmouth for the procession to the church. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.
