Good to see the Davidson Wildcats back in the national college basketball rankings (#25, UPI/USA-Today and #23 AP) so late in the season. Takes me back to Lefty's great teams with Mike Malloy, Rodney Knowles & Jerry Kroll----one of which teams (1967??) played Charlie Scott's UNC Tar Heels off their feet for most of the game before finally falling to (the Great! Scott) & the Heels in the regionals.
A Duke fan, I was bitterly disappointed that the Heels slipped past the Wildcats.
Glad to see Davidson's program restored to its former glory...
As I recall, the 'Cats also had some football success back then with an innovative coach named Homer Smith, or maybe it was Homer Rice...fuzzy on that one...
