A great story! Always good to hear of another in a long line of teachers who are truly TEACHERS & mentors & who are truly invested in their students' success. I never studied under former long-time Wilson Band director Donald Ruzek, but I did for a while under Orchestra director Michael Laguta, who always demonstrated similar qualities to those ascribed here to Mr. Jenkins.
Good to know that the tradition goes forward.
