Thanks for the nostalgic look back Harvey, and to you AND Scott for all the memories and information.
My older brother graduated Wilson in 1959, a decade ahead of me, and had also provided to me a bit of the background on the game Mr. Leffler referenced in his original posting on this topic.
I remember as a boy discovering the grace and beauty of basketball listening, in my room at night, to am radio broadcasts of games, including some that Dick Esleek played in. Other memories include broadcasts of the Old Dominion College Monarchs' games, of teams which featured Harry Lozon and Dick St. Clair. That would have been just prior to the "Sonny Allen Era" which kinda' put Monarchs' basketball up another notch.
And who can forget the great Service ball played at the time which produced great teams like the Sublant Sea Raiders and Phiblant Gators, starring Mike Barrett (later with the Va. Squires) and Norview's Charlie Hatcher, respectively. As I recall, from 1963 to 1968, Sublant won 5 straight All-Navy titles with Barrett's 40-point games and by implementing UCLA's then-famous full court press.
Again, guys, thanks for (Yes, I AM Irish AND a Notre Dame fan!) "waking up the echoes" of glories past...
John
