Biography
VAUGHAN, Carl Clinton III, was a man who loved knowledge, family and life. And just in case you're wondering, will it really be the same. You know we're only living for the day we meet again. - The Moody Blues
He was a know-it-all history buff. He knew everything about everything and everything about nothing. His favorite channel was The History Channel, and his favorite books were biographies. A close second to The History Channel was Carl's love of movies. He, like the rest of the family, knew all the words to Christmas Vacation and he happily watched romantic comedies and NASCAR races with his wife, Wendy. He loved The Moody Blues and knew quite a bit of music trivia. His favorite memories were spent with his family on vacation in Nags Head, N.C. He loved breakfast at The Dunes, lunch at the Black Pelican and dinner at Owens. He was a proud husband and living family man. He was a member of Journey Christian Church. His nine month fight with cancer ravaged his mind and body, but not his spirit. I'm sure Carl would like for us to smile about his life. It was a good one.
He will be remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Wendy Vaughan; his daughters, Rebecca Vaughan, Rachel Vaughan, Amy Unger and Bonnie Unger; his grandchildren, Schuyler and Caid Heflin, Magheira Lansberry and Willow Rosenberry; his father, CeCe Vaughan; his stepmother, Genny Vaughan; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Mike Hagan; his brother-in-law and his wife, Dewayne and Kelly Starling, and their two children, Robbie and Mason Starling; his mother-in-law, Nora Schroeder; his brother-in-law, Viron Starling; his dog, Bogart; and his cat, Porter. Services to be announced.
