I have said this before and, will say it again.
"My Stars, we are starting to drop like flies."
Please believe me, I mean offense to those who have passed nor, to their family and friends.
It just seems that we are all getting to that age group, myself included, where our days are growing short.
My sincerest and heartfelt condolances to all the families, friends and, co-workers of those listed on this forum who have so recently passed.
If we were somehow able to make an all encompassing list of these people's professional and, personal accomplishments, their generosity to those less fortunate, their list of family, friends and admirers, it would fill probably every sqare inch of that grand old lady on Willett Drive.
There's an old saying that the measure of a man could be told by the number of people who attended his funeral. But, there's also a saying that, if you have just one friend that love's you unconditionally, sticks with you through thick and thin, calls you down for your shortcomings while defending you to their last breath, then you are one who posesses untold riches. I can't say anything about the former but, on the latter I can say this. I have one very best friend, who has stuck with me over the years, through thick and thin, welcomed me into her home and family again and, has helped me in all things and, love's me unconditionally, then I would have to say that I am one of the richest people on this planet.
In thinking of these fellow Prexies who have so recently left us, I want to pass on something my friend Jackie told me not long after we met 30 years ago. She told me that when I told her I went to Wilson, she thought I was probably a nice guy and, had a certain level of honesty and respectability, which she admired. While I won't take credit for her thoughts on a personal level, I think credit should be given to the high school I attended, my teachers and, the people I went to school with. Believe it or not, this is the first time I have ever told anyone what my friend Jackie told me. And, by the way, Jackie is a homegrown Cradock girl.
