H. Carter Robie III, 64, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 29, 2008. Carter is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan Burnett Robie; two daughters, Chris Wray and her husband Jeff and Cathy Davis and her husband Richard; two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jeffrey Wray; a sister, Betty Kinney and husband Bob; nephew, Kevin; brother-in-law, Gene Burnett and wife Darlene. He had three loves in his life: his family, friends, and work. He retired from Reuben H. Donnelly Co. and was the former owner of Creative Business Services.
He was a proud member of the Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1961. He was President of his Sr. Class at Wilson.
A special thanks to all of his friends for their love and support throughout his life. He truly cherished their friendships. Special recognition is given to Dr. Stanley Brittman and all the healthcare professionals who attended to his medical needs.
Friends may join the family from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Oak Grove Cemetery by the Rev. James E. Dorson. Following the burial, the family will receive friends at his daughter’s home, 2312 Sterling Point Drive, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bon Secours Maryview Foundation, 3520 High St., Portsmouth, VA 23707.
