Yesterday's murder of Benazir Bhutto grieved me greatly, as I have followed her unusual & heroic career for many years. I held her in the rarified air of a Bobby Kennedy (the highest praise possible from me!) or an Anwar El Sadat, & regarded her as a force for peace & good in the world. Murder is always a cowarardly act & the murder of a woman is doubly so. Men who commit such acts are never warriors in a holy cause---they are merely cowards who bring shame upon themselves & discredit to their cause---whatever it may be. So it was yesterday.
The world lost a heroic champion of freedom & democratic ideals in yesterday's stupid & tragic murder of Benazir Bhutto & is a somewhat darker world in which to live with her passing. May her memory live on in her adherents around the world & inspire the victory of freedom over tyranny and terrorism.
Peace.
