While I usually play and, listen to Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, I just might expand my horizons and try to learn some Bluegrass. I love Allison Krause. And, what a Babe! I would be her love slave. Sorry.
Now, once again, I have to dust off a few brain cells to learn this thing. Although I have a genius IQ (not bragging) I have some sort of ADD. That means I R smart but, my fat noggin short circuits.
Although I have made some studies in reading music and theory,I play mostly by ear. If you listen to Caravanserai by Santana, I can play all the guitar parts and Hammond B3 organ parts note for note.
I discovered a slightly clever method for learning how to play lead guitar when I was 12 or 13. I took an old portable record player, one that had 4 speeds; 78,45,33 and, 16 rpms. If you played an LP at 33 and slowed it down to 16, everything was a full octave lower and obviously slower. I learned every song note for note from the fisrt 2 Santana albums in a week.
