Went out on the lake for the first time.
Weather cleared up nicely in the afternoon and we hit the shallow banks hoping to find some good size fish spawning. I used a 4 " zoom pumpkin lizard, a minnow crankbait, and a green lizard. No hits. We spent a considerable amount of time near the fallen pine tree on the right after the first cove (right). tough day. I received a monster hit trolling back to the ramp passing by the point just before the picnic area. Rod went down, but no fihgting tension. I thought I just snagged a tree limb. Reeled it in closer and a giant bass surfaced about 30 yards from the boat and spit the minnow crank bait out.
Will probably head back out on Sunday as it is supposed to clear up a little. What's been the crappie been hitting besides minnows? tough lake without a depth finder. :-)
I might need to invest in one.
