Posted by MuskieKid on 3/27/2003, 7:49 am, in reply to "Re: 2003 - Year of the muskie!" I believe that it is against the law to use game fish (trout) for bait. Yep, I believe the Trout stocking has resulted in the monster stripers in the Baltimore lakes. FYI: I have some info. about the Balt. lakes under "local links" on my site. To find out for sure if you can use Trout for bait, check with the DNR. Here's a link for you: http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/ If you email Angel Bollenger (her email address is on the site under "freshwater reports") you can find out the answer. She's always been very helpful to me when I had a question. Let me know what she says - I would appreciate it. As you probably know, California put Trout in the lakes around San Diego. This has resulted in monster bass up to 20+ pounds. There's a plug called "AC" (large jointed crankbait) that is very popular out there in the trout colors. I bet it would be a killer on Tigers. I fished Lake Frank on a regular basis over 20 years ago. There are some monster LM Bass in there, but I'm not sure what else. Sounds like you saw a Tiger fingerling. They are about that size when stocked. FYI: Maryland originally got our Tiger fingerlings from Pennsylvania in exchange for Striper fingerlings. We still do. However, they are now being reared in tanks at the Hagerstown Prison also. Guess that's why they have stripes!!

Great, your input is much appreciated. This forum was started to educate all of us. You will find that there is plenty of info. around about "Natural Muskies", but very little about Tiger Muskies.
