I have found that flyfishing can be effective at all times of the year, but I prefer doing it on summer evenings. I usually fish sub-surface and strip the flies about two feet at a time with a short pause between strips. If a fish starts following the fly in, speed up the strips. I like to fish right over the tops of the weeds, with the fly ticking the weed tops.
