Remember one thing: A musky is a musky no matter where it swims. The only thing geographical location affects is how fast the water warms/cools during the year. Since the lake tends to be weed choked, I would look to weedless topwaters and large spinnerbaits. The Mister Twister Top Prop (with the plastic trailer) is virtually weedless. This lure can be trolled or cast over the weeds. If you are trolling during the warm water period, speed works. I have done well in the past trolling in the 4-6 mph range. This will draw reaction strikes. If you are casting, I would burn the bait over the cover and cover lots of water to search for active fish. This same advice goes for the large spinnerbaits. Spinnerbaits can be good casting baits either bulging them just under the surface or slow rolling them along bottom structure. Trolling, go very fast! Troll them fast over the weed tops and hold on. Also, since the lake is pressured, try fishing very early in the morning or late in the evening. Topwaters late in the day can be the most productive fishing that you will ever see. If you have a fish blow up on a lure and miss, throw one more cast at them, and if they don't take, leave! Come back later when the light or wind or weather changes and throw something new at them (I prefer a Creeper or Jackpot). If I can be of further help, just let me know!
