I willing to bet that your lake also has a lot of fishing pressure on it. If that is the case, I'm will to bet that the Tigers in your lake have just about seen every Bass lure there is. Could be that's the reason they are not hitting - could be they are just plain conditioned to avoid them. Maybe you need to show them something different. If that's the case, you might try a couple of regular sized Musky lures. When I first started I used 8" Perch Believers and trolled them. If the weeds are a problem, stick the tip of the rod underwater as you troll. Throwing large plastics weightless may also do the trick. Initially in the spring I would also (cast) fish in the back end of coves and the outside edges of weed beds. These areas should be adjacent to deep water. If those areas In my opinion, Musky fishing is just like Bass fishing. Just larger equipment.

Your lake and mine sound very similar. As mentioned earlier, it took me several months before I got my first one. I fished 3-4 days a week (20-25 hours a week). In my opinion, the fall is the easiest time to catch one starting in late August thru early September. Next comes the spring (with small minnow baits and jigs). During the dog days I troll for suspended fish.
don't work then I would fish the drop-offs. In my lake we have a drop off at 18 ft. or so, then a secondary one at around 25 ft. If the first one does not produce, I then go to the second one. This year I'm going to try out 5" Swimbaits (salt water lures) in the very deep water to see how I'll do. Hoping it will work. Obviously, there's a pattern in your lake. It's kind of like a puzzle figuring it out.
