My main desire for the coming year is to catch a natural muskie. Living in Nothern Va. limits my realistic options to Burke Lake. So far I have had one follow and one huge fish that exploded on my bucktail during a downpour of rain but missed by half a foot. In preparing for a new and optimistic year ahead I plan on practicing on the agresive tigers found in Montgomery County, partly for building hook setting and fighting techniques but mostly for fun and adventure. My plan is to use either small bucktails or super shad raps from late March to mid April. Do you think this will lead to success or should use something else? Are Tigers more willing to bite? Also how hard is the Upper Potomac to fish with only a 34-lb thrust electric motor? Is the area around Harper's Fairy any good?
