I have a copy of Rollie and Helens musky shop catalog that I'm using for reference to terminal tackle components.
My question is about leaders, which seem to be the "typical" method of rigging ANY lure. It's fundamental to most here...I know, but correct me if I'm wrong. Tied directly to the end of the line from the reel is a ball bearing swivel. To the swivel's opposite end is the leader material. And to the leaders opposite end is a locking snap.Does that about sum it up?
Additionally, how do I proportionately "size" these leaders to the lure that I would be using at any given time? By size, I mean the length of it and the size of the snaps and swivels. Are there any rules-of thumb here?
Could we talk about leader variations as they are applied to bucktails, crankbaits, surface lures, jerkbaits and most importantly, trolling?
