Posted by pb on 7/5/2002, 2:21 pm I watched a boat where I had my hit yesterday spot a tiger and yell to us look and this tiger was surfaceing like a rainbow trout gulping air or bugs and finally chased his plastic worm on top---he took the bait and broke his line. Well I'm hoping for a 40+"er like my roomate caught(on rapala) my first time out so keep trying you'll get one. I'm going to try a snake-bait next time out as this was a great lure for big bass and pikerel back in MA. Basically its a plastic worm which has a foam head to keep it floating. I don't know if its still made--well Good luck and cool site muskiekid---keep it rock'n
As Muskie kid states the importance before the sun comes up appears to be very critical-----I have fished for tigers only four times now. I caught my first fish (33") 3rd time out in the shallow weeds on a buzz-bait. It was feet from dropping to 12+ feet deep and yesterday I missed what should have been muskie #2 for me. Both before the sun came up. My first two times out I threw buzz-baits/spinnerbaits and rapala's all day and ran into someone who told us that they caught two in the morning before the sun showed on topwater. So we planned accordingly and wham 1st time out that early I caught one! I use a white buzzbait (relatively small 3/8-1/2oz.) with a platics worm on then hook. I do reel it in as slow as I can while still making noise and bubbles on top---I think it just pisses them off!!! Explosive hits too-----talk about fun!!!
