This weekend I read an article about how fish perceive colors that had some great information. The author stated that the best lure colors for clear water with a greenish tint would be fluorescent green or yellow, or silver plated gold. He stated that these colors would be most visible from a distance in this color of water. I'm inclined to agree because my best lure is the silver plated gold husky jerk from rapala, which is also a rattling lure. I've often heard that white is a highly visible color, but the author suggested that if you looked at a white lure through a green filter (similar to looking through a column of water) it would just appear to be green like the water. Pineview Res. in Utah, where I fish, has clear water with a greenish tint. The author of the article suggested that in clear water with a blue tint the best color choices would be silver and blue. There is a different set of rules when fish view a lure close up, but because tiger muskies are few and far between on any body of water, I think it might be better to try attracting them from a distance.
