you do have a point, from the very beginning, fromsoft made the 3rd title of AC is for hardcore players, the AC' ability great reduced, thus the difficulty of the game increased. Because in AC3 you now can hire another raven, so in many case, it is 2ACs vs 1 AC, thus the AC ability reduction is considerable fare, although enemy AC have much greater power since they are "intensified", and your hired ravens are most likely useless crap.
However this do give hardcore players fun like myself, since they offer more challenge, also the human plus ability, you can not get it cheaply as before, you now must earn it, and by equiping it , you will have to throw away all of your other opptional parts, it is anoying, but with every ability you earn(most of them are not easy task), it did offer some satisfactions for hardcore players. The more important facter you need to think about in AC3 is about the balanced combinaion of AC parts, since the ability is reduced much more, you will need more time thinking about your AC' parts combinaions, it depend on the situation greatly, weither you need a fast AC with low defence or a heavy AC with low mobility, or a well balanced all round AC, because you are most likely will not finish the game just using one kind of AC combinaion alone, you need at least 2 or 3 variations. It make you think more strategically before you enter any mission, it is challenging and fun in my parts, but i don't know about other players.
Thus, in a word, with the change made for the AC3, the game is now more about hardcore players choice, if you just want to play for fun, AC3 might not be a good choice for you.
