I was stationed at Takhli from 1971 to 1972, I worked in the Chief of Maintenance office, next to the flight line of F105s. My tour there was very enjoyable, enjoyed touring the country and visiting the USO often. Spent lots of time at the NCO club, drinking and eating. My hooch was across the street from the USO. The missions of the the F105s every hour kept me awake for the first two weeks there but became used to the great sound.
You could always tell who had rec nelly arrived at Takhli, circles under the eyes, bloodshot eyes and drinking lots of coffee to stay awake. After about two weeks on base (and even to today) I can sleep through anything. Love the sound of an F105!
