Does anyone know any mechanics that worked on the F105 Thud? I am a volunteer at the Valiant Air Command Museum in Titusville, Florida. We are restoring an F105D for display at the museum. We would like to remove the canopy for easier restoration on the ground. Does anyone know the procedure for removing the hinge pins of the canopy? Please help with contact information of any mechanics. A description on how to remove the pins would be very helpful.
These two Facebook groups have many, many members that are a mix of F-105 specialists of all types including crew chiefs, pilots, avionics, ............about anything you can think of. There are many posts daily (very active site), lots of good information , stories, photos. Several posts and photos are related to F-105 restoration projects around the country. Sounds likely would be very good for you to get into those groups to post your questions. You'll find lots of help there.
Both these FB groups are very good and very similar. A lot of guys are members of a are active on both of them.
If you're already have a facebook account then it'll be easy to get to them . If you're not already a facebook member then create a very simple account with minimum personnel information on it. Then go to those two Thud groups and click join" and you'll be soon accepted and you can then read posts, post your own questions, comments, etc. Check these two F-105 Facebook groups out. You'll be glad you did. Great groups.
