Ther ponds are filled in, but there is a small out door resturaunt in its place. The dirt road leading up to it is still just like back in the days. I'm not sure what the name of it is now though. All the other bars in town are gone and just a blank spot is there now or a new building. Both the theaters down town are still there but are locked up and look like they have not been used in over 20 years. The crown hotel is no longer a hotel but the building is still there. The Pornsawan Hotel is still there and is still in operation. Only they are just using two floors, as the upper floors are in very bad report and are not usable. Where the road crossed over the tracks,,,,well,,,there is an overpass at that place now. Oh,,and down town where the CE Takhli Buss would turn around by the fountain and train station,,there is a 7-11 Store. Somethings changed and somethings didn't. It was quite an interresting trip. I just got back from a two week vacation trip to Thailand last week. I went there for the all bases reunion in Bangkok and the U-Tapao Reunion in Pattaya . Both reunions went on at the same time. I took part in both. We were able to get onto the Base at Takhli RTAFB. Most buildings are gone on the US side. But some are still around. Most the buildings are in ruins and jungle has reclaimed most of the area. The gym is still in tact, but is not being used. However,,,the murials that were painted on the walls of the 474th TFW Road Runner patch and the F-111A are still on the walls and are in great shape. Also the sports pinnets are still on the walls as well.
The base swimming pool is still there and has green dirty water in it, although it has not been used in many years. Oh,,the diving board still has a lot of spring to it. The base theater is gone, but the floor is still there.
All the old wooden hootches are gone.
Most all of the old wooden bungalows the the GI's would live in are now history. Also,,,Winnies Place,,,well,,It is now a Toyota Dealership.
