I was a weapons load crew member and we did not associate with the pilots and officers all that much. I do know we lost a lot of good men; we had a lot of good men separated from their families for a lot longer than they should have been. It griefs my heart to this day, very much so. However, I think of all the guys that strapped that big jet to their bodies every day and went into the Jaws of Hell---don't think I would have been able to do that. He will be missed by all of us that is for sure.
I am almost positive that Captain "Matt" and I went to Takhli in December, 1965, as part of the 333rd TFS when it was moved there from Seymour-Johnson.
