I was there from October 1969 till August 21 1970. I arrived there with the 44th TFS and was later transferred over to the 42nd TEWS. I was an A1C when I got there and when I left. I had a lousy attitude and didn't make many friends there. I did have a telok and we lived in the bungalow Molum area off base, even tho I wasn't supposed to be off base after a certain time. I enjoyed Thailand because it was such a beautiful country. While I was there we lost one F105 over south Vietnam and bothn pilot and ewo were captured by the sam site crew and the North Vietnamese army. I forget their names but it was a sad day for all of us. Happily they did get released when they brought all our pilots that were POWs home. Also we had a F105 come in with the gear up which was pilot error made a spectacular light show landing on it's belly and when the agm 8 and agm12 exploded taking out the end of runway. Plus all the ammo cooked off from the fire.. Both the pilot and ewo escaped major injury when they blew the canopy and ran out on the wing and jumpedd into the ditch next to the runway.
