Re: Takhli and Agent Orange -- Need Help!
Sandy, very hard to prove aug perimeter duty as no official records were kept. That's why not on DD214s, you just did it. As for crash and rescue, that's your best shot. I would get maps of Tahkli flightline and show where crash units staged. remember the VA person doing your claim has never been to Tahkli or probably has no idea how the FD operated on the flightline. they just think they sit in FD all day. So I would draw them a BIG picture in there mind by explain detailed what your Husband exact duties were. I would go on the internet and find official photos of AF fire trucks standing by at the end of the runway and etc. Could be any base, again putting a picture in the va raters head. Get a job discription from the AF telling what the duties of a ff are. You can look at old airman magazines on the net which may have photos. Another important item to explain that Tahkli aircraft returning to base were often shot up and many emergencies accord everyday. explain the mission of Tahkli, again you have to prove 50 percent or more likely your husband served on/near the perimeter. I tell everyone it's your claim, what you put into it thru your research, will help your claim. Go to the appeals BVA website and click on decisions right site of the page. Once there type in Tahkli under exact words and you will learn a lot about claims that get approved/disapproved. Good luck Steve
