I was at Takhli in May 64 with the 510 TFS out of England AFB La. with 6 F100's. We had a fellow airman who was an artist and us being from La. had a thing about alligators. this airman made a drawing in color of an alligator biting a king cobraon a sign which was about 6ft. by 6ft. and put it up in front of the line shack. later that afternoon the Thai base commander found the sign and was not happy. he knocked it down and had a conference with our commander about the sign. About 2 hours later we went on alert and downloaded the F100 fuel tanks and uploaded 500 lb. bombs. At first we thought about war with Thailand over the sign, but found out later it was a troop buildup in Laos next to the Thai border.we didn't bomb.
