Rich,
I was there in 73 at the same time that you were.
One day I was over to the dispenery to do a so called "Random" gold flo test.
Anyway, just as I was ready to leave, the ambulance comes screaming up and they run a gurney down the hall way with some GI on it. Everyone in the hallway got pushed to the side of the walls to let the medics through. I saw the guy on the gurney as they wheeled him past me. He had all of his clothing burned off of him and had what looked like 90 percent of his body burned. After we were cleared to leave, I asked what happened to the GI. I was told that he had been Usinf a flame thower to burn the weeds out of the constatine wire that was around one of the "spook" compounds on base. They said that the Flame thrower blew up on the GI.
I believe this happened in either late july or some time in August time frame, But what I never found out is wether or not the GI lived or died. From what I remember, He was still alive when I saw him go buy on the gurney, But I never learned who it was or if he even servived or not. Do you recall this and if so, do you know the full story and what ended up with this GI ?
That insident has been on my mind every since that day when I saw the GI's charred body being wheeled past me and seeing the GI trying to talk. To this day I have been hoping and praying that he made it ok, but I just do not know what the real outcome was.
