Posted by Andrew Powell Here is a brief history of Lt. Hunter for those who may remember him. Hunter was from Douglasville, Georgia and was a graduate of The Citadel before entering the USAF on 1 June 1963. After one year of waiting, Hunter was stationed at Moody AFB for ATC on 3 June 1964. He trained with the 3550th Student Squadron flying T-38s. Then on 6 August 1965 Lt. Hunter was transferred to Nellis AFB, attached to the 4523rd Combat Crew Training Squadron, training to fly a F-105. On 20 March 1966 Lt. Hunter was stationed overseas at Takhli Air Base, Thailand joining the 354th Tactical Fighter Squadron. Lt. Hunter participated in at least 34 missions before being shot down by a SAM on 25 May 1966 in northeastern Laos while flying in a two-ship mission. His call sign on the mission was Nash 2. Later that day he was declared M.I.A. I am looking for anyone who may remember Lt. Hunter while he trained at Moody AFB, Nellis AFB, and at Takhli AB, and would like to interview those for the purpose learning about Hunter's life for a book I am currently researching. I appreciate any help that can be provided. Thank you for serving our country.
