Posted by Michael Haddigan on 7/21/2007, 12:30:17 You won't remember me, but I remember you from Takhli. I always thought you were a pretty good guy. I was an A1C then buck sgt., working the law enforcement midnight shift most of the time. I think you were my flight chief for a while. I worked the main gate a lot, as I recall. And I spent a lot of nights guarding concrete in the CE Yard! I was kind of a hippie GI and not really into the war. I remember once you had been to town and somehow got dropped off at the Thai main gate. I was on patrol and came over to pick you up in a jeep. You said to me, "Haddigan, you wouldn't be a bad troop if you'd just get a haircut and shine your boots every once in a while." Durwin Weber from Wisconsin, was a big buddy of mine. I think he worked for you for a while also. I also worked for Joe Hall -- aka "Jaaaaay Lewis" on the radio -- though never on town patrol. Great guy. I wasn't on the first 141, but came in as Tent City was being built. After we moved into the high rises, I was roommates with three black dudes -- Clifford Brown, Bobby Canidate and Willie Murphy. Very, very good guys. Canidate and Murphy came to Takhli from Da Nang, I think. And I think Canidate had also spent a tour at Phan Rang. I was in LE just about the whole time, but occasionally worked security. Anyway, I spotted your post and thought I'd give you a shout out. Cheers,

Hi Jim:
I thought that was hilarious.
And for a while I was part of an "E-light" SPS outfit grandiously called the "Security Police Engineers." We worked security from 2 a.m. to dawn and then strung wire, set trip flares, filled sandbags and built bunkers for the rest of the day. I liked it because they didn't make us get haircuts or shine our boots!
Hope all is well with you.
Michael
