Yes. There was a commercial contract flight from Travis AFB to Honolulu to Tan Son Nhut to Bangkok. If you made a similar flight, you will remember the Honolulu stopover to refuel, a very distinctive smell when they opened the hatch at Tan Son Nhut, and should recall a number of Army personnel exiting at that stop. I made this flight in Dec 67 and the short stop at Tan Son Nhut reminded me of why I had volunteered to go back to Thailand and not back to South Vietnam. I spent a lot of time in both Thailand and Vietnam, and the initial smell/feel of Tan Son Nhut was always unique. Best of luck on your VA claim.
