need some help with my 1 year old colt

Hi. My colt is turning 1 year on the 17 of march. i have been just putting a english saddle on him for only a few days. he has done great and seems like he's been T-totally trained but I know he's Never had a saddle on him before because I have known him since he's hit the ground-I've seen him. But I am going to try to introduce the clippers to him this weekend. Should I feed him and clip him at the same time, or just let him smell them while they're not on the turn them on or what? thanks
