When you get your saddle, definitely check the condition of the straps you buckle the girth to. they are called billets. Clean them well with saddle soap and then condition them with lexol or neatsfoot oil. Actually, you should do this to your entire saddle regularly. However, if the billets are cracked, you should have them replaced. Cracked billets are just an accident waiting to happen!
