But a new law in Tennessee requires anyone born after 1989 to have a boating license. Twenty people signed up for an eight hour course this weekend with Tennessee Wild Life Resource Agency. The new law requires anyone born after January 1989 to take the class to operate any kind of water craft on Tennessee waters. But not everyone will choose to follow this law this summer and if caught, a minor could face up to a $164 fine. The adult in charge of them could face a fine as well and both individuals could lose their boating privileges on Tennessee waters.
