You can’t buy your way into it, you earn that right by caching a giant catfish. The place to do that has been the tidal James River. “I can’t imagine better fishing for blue catfish than over the past few weeks on the James River,” said Mike Ostander, who operates a guide service titled James River Fishing School. “Nearly every trip is getting a blue catfish over 50 pounds and good numbers of fish over 20 pounds,” he said.
