The intent is to stop the releasing of previously undersized fish during a time they are stressed and likely will die anyway if returned to the water. Link: Read the Article

Conservationists say it's better to keep those that would die if released
To reduce the mortality rate of stripers caught in summer on Lake Norman, the N.C. Wildlife
Resources Commission is proposing the removal of the size limit of stripers caught between June
1 and Sept. 30.
