Posted by StriperChaser on January 23, 2005, 8:28 am Last year I reported that part of the answer to keeping youngsters busy and out of trouble is being answered by Yuma area organizations offering outdoors recreation and competition in a wide-variety of outdoors sports. It's still true today. Fishing, hunting and the various shooting sports available to youngsters in the Yuma area enable our kids to enjoy and learn to keep busy and have fun without being in trouble — and without it costing a whole lot of money. Yuma-area fishing clubs (check them out in this column) offer great opportunities for kids as well as adults to learn the “hows,” “wheres” and “whys” of fishing they can truly enjoy all year long and for years to come. I also offer a youth fishing program, free of charge to any youngster who would like to learn a bit about fishing and to have fun while they're at it — with equipment loaned to me by Game and Fish. Get a kid hooked on fishing and there won't be time or inclination for trouble.
