
Posted by StriperChaser on January 23, 2005, 8:14 am Buggs Island Bait and Tackle, (434) 374-8934, reports striper are hitting good at the upper end of creeks, particularly the back of Eastland, Buckhorn and Bluestone on live bait or casting flukes or calcuttas. Watch for the birds to tell you where the fish are. Crappie are good in shallow water on small minnows and jigs. Largemouth bass also are good in 6 to 12 feet of water using jerkbaits and crankbaits. Catfish and white perch are slow.
