Posted by StriperChaser on January 13, 2005, 11:20 pm Proposed is a "hatchery permit" costing $5 which would be required of anglers harvesting striped bass, striper hybrids, smallmouth bass and brown, brook and rainbow trout. Populations of these species are maintained by stockings from the department's hatcheries. Said the spokesman: "All revenue from the sale of this permit would support our hatcheries. Budget cuts already have forced the closure of two hatcheries, and those still operating average 61 years in age." Link: Read the Article
