Although the weather forecast for Saturday was for breezy conditions I still launched at Occoneechee hoping to find a wind break holding fish. Bait was much harder to catch in Sandy Creek than last weekend but I still managed to catch enough herring for the day. Started the morning fishing at the Airport and did mark a few fish in the area but had no takers. Moved back up the lake looking for a place out of the wind. The wind was blowing down the main lake and it was a pretty rough ride back to the bridges through the whitecaps. I stopped and fished along the RR trestle marking fish but only caught a few large cats. I went on up river but the only place to get out of the wind was just inside Bluestone but did not mark enough bait or fish to warrant staying. The area from the bridge in Bluestone back toward the main lake was wrapped up with catfish noodles. I had to weave through them just to get through that area. I don't see how anyone can call that fishing, it's just meat gathering and is a hazard to all the other boats on the lake. Going back to ramp was a much easier ride with the wind instead of against it. All and all it was a pretty sorry day to be on the lake. I should have saved the gas and stayed home. Water temps had fallen since last weekend down to 56.7 deg in the main lake.
