CIFFI RECIEVES PG&E GRANT
PRESS RELEASE – July 24, 2009
Note: CIFFI is a major supporter of the Kid's Fishn' and Grinnin' Day hosted by the Stockton CSBA Chapter in addition to the Kid's Catch a Smile Event hosted by the Sacramento and Modesto Chapters
California Inland Fisheries Foundation Inc. – Project Kokanee – Executive Director, Sep Hendrickson is pleased to announce the continued partnership between CIFFI and Pacific Gas & Electric Company. CIFFI recently received a grant in the amount of $15,000.00 as part of PG&E’s continuing support and their long-standing commitment to stewardship of California’s natural resources.
This grant will be used by CIFFI in a cooperative partnership with the California Department of Fish and Game to support fishery enhancement efforts, youth and family recreational fishing and outdoor activity programs throughout PG&E service areas and beyond.
Pacific Gas & Electric’s hydro-electric watershed projects and management programs enhance the outdoor experience for all Californians to enjoy. Their commitment to the environment provides outdoor recreational opportunities and supports fishing by enhancement and pen projects at many reservoirs and other impoundments throughout California, offering significant benefits to our natural resources and native wildlife.
Thanks in part to the grant from Pacific Gas & Electric, and donations, membership dues, fundraising events and derbies, CIFFI continues fishery enhancement projects. This includes the rearing and planting of kokanee salmon, installation, rearing and maintenance expenses of pen projects, much needed hatchery and in-the-field equipment for DFG, seasonal aides plus support of other fisheries in California.
CIFFI is a non-profit 501 (c3) all-volunteer organization, dedicated to the enhancement of fishing opportunities. CIFFI continues to support education and outreach programs that not only directly support fisheries, but also introduces youngsters of all abilities to angling in our State. The hope is to continue to cultivate an appreciation of our outdoor heritage. Distribution of funding includes, but is not limited to: Chico Hooked on Fishing, Kids Catch A Smile Day, Lake Tahoe Kokanee Festival, Optimists Youth Fishing Day, Pardee Kid’s Fishing Day, Lincoln High School Waterculture, Stockton Fishin’n Grin’n, Kids Outdoor Sports Camp, Tiberon Salmon Institute, International Sportsmen’s Expo Youth Sports Fair.
