Hi all,
We finished the sixth week of tagging striped bass. As usual, we captured fish in fyke traps out of Knights Landing and drifting gill nets out of Antioch.
Because of boat problems in our Delta smelt-centric surveys, we had to cut back on gill netting. Because the river at Knights Landing came up (10 feet or so) very quickly, we had to re-rig several traps so did less fishing.
In 29 trap-days we captured about 262 legal-sized and about 106 sublegal-sized striped bass. I didn't get a bycatch report.
In 23 gill-net sets (each about 30 minutes) we captured about 134 legal-sized and no sublegal-sized striped bass. I didn't get a bycatch report.
On May 8 in Knights Landing we recaptured 2 male striped bass we'd tagged April 28 at Shads Landing.
It was still pretty slow, but improved.
Thanks
