Chang Yang of Fresno appears to have broken the Millerton record with a 50 1/2 inch-61.8 lber. He landed the huge fish on a white fluke in the morning of May 5th on the main lake. The fish took 200 yards of 12 lb test line off his Curado level wind out into the main lake, almost spooling him before turning with only 30 yards left on the reel. Yang is the same angler who landed a 50 a few weeks ago in the O'Niell Forebay -and then a41.6 at Millerton two weeks ago. This fish would break the long-time record of Roger George, co-author of the Fresno Bee Fishing Report. The timing of the big fish is a good sign for the upcoming 1st Annual Warren George Memorial Striper Tournament at Millterton this coming weekend hosted the by Fresno Chapter of the California Striped Bass Association.
The good news is that all of these huge female fish came out of a body of water in which reproduction is not an option, as opposed to taking a huge female out of the bay/Delta system!
