Hi all,
We just finished the third week of tagging striped bass. As usual, we captured fish using fyke traps out of Knights Landing. Unlike Weeks 1 and 2, we did not drift gill nets out of Antioch.
In 40 trap-days (i.e., 10 traps fishing 4 days) we captured about 110 legal-sized (a few in the 90-100 cm FL size range) and about 20 sublegal-sized striped bass. We didn't have much bycatch (no salmonids), but got some American shad and one legal-sized white sturgeon.
Water temperature is still in the mid-50's. On a really good day we can get 1000 striped bass in a single trap, so --- like the last two weeks --- it's still pretty slow.
Thanks
