It's very sad and disheartening to see such an action taken against striped bass.
Having spent all my youth and spent way too much time fishing for bass along the San Francisco, and Marin coastline, including San Francisco Bay,I can assure you striped bass, salmon, perches, etc. all lived closely together and all thrived.
What I look forward to is a time when kids, and adults, can have the opportunity to waste as much time as I did catching bass. Be warned, however, striped bass fishing is addictive.
Of all the fish I have fished for, striped bass is the most rewarding, memorable, affordable, and diverse in methods of capture.
Striped bass have a major following here, and on the East Coast, because of their attributes as a great game fish, and also great table fare.
The decision over 130 years ago to bring them here was a sound one. They fit into the ecosystem beautifully until the water diversions began and we witnessed the declines of many species over the following years.
I will not go on from here because we all know this story. I am offering my support and will join you in the fight against this unfounded bill full of misconceptions and agenda driven purpose.
