Todays water wars, and environmental effects, are a symptom that something in the system (a system intended for equal protection) is breaking down. Besides, there is a majority of american people who dont care about our rite (or priviledge) to be able to fish, for sport, in a quality fishery. "They" dont see the difference between fishing for carp and fishing for striper. They are both large and fun to catch, but "we" know the difference like black and white. Americans, in general, would rather pay less for a tomatoe (from Mexico) than preserve a fishery they'll never lay eyes on. The worst part is....many americans can not afford to buy American products as much as they wish (%100 of the time). Think about it every time you go to Wall mart, and you buy something made in china. There are non profit organizations already out there to "show us how its done." Look to the commercialy successful farms that use hydro (organic and non organic... mostly independant/ noncorporate farmers). it is possible.

Well, hydroponics is another very viable way to commercialy produce a crop (particularly tomatoes, already being done). Much less land and water needed, plus, faster growing and harvesting times. It can be done all year round in almost any environment with green houses. The technology is there. and cost would be competetive -cost effective, with more profit potential- if the farming industry were willing to developed and manufacture, on a mass scale, these techniques for the mass market, for general practice. but they dont.
